In September 2026 I saw 13 seadragons over my 9 dives with a total of 57 encounters and an average of just over 6 per dive.
September was a pretty good month for diving with only a few days when it was not diveable on days I was free. I did miss a couple of days due to feeling unwell, especially the last day of September when I had planned to dive The Leap again.
All 13 seadragons that I saw in September I had seen before so there were no new dragons. I saw "Veronica" again after not seeing her in August but I didn't see "Virginia" who I only saw the one time in August.
I did not see "Virginia" at all in September. I only saw her the one time towards the end of August so she may be a seadragon that moves or hides a lot. Hopefully I will see her again.
While technically "Delores" was not "missing" for September as I saw her on my first dive of the month, I did not see her again for the rest of the month. When I saw her on 2 September she was in exactly the same place as I had seen her in August (not far from the entry point at The Steps). She may still be around and I keep missing her. She may be like "Douglas" and "Greg" who move around a lot and so can easily be missed if I'm not in the right place at the right time.
I saw no new seadragons in September.
I saw "Randy" on all 9 dives through September with his second brood for the season. He acquired the brood on 23 August and so he should still have it into the first week of October.
I saw "Hervé" on every dive in September. He did not have a brood on 2 September but did have one (his first for the season) when I saw him of 5 September. Another diver saw him on 4 September and his brood looked new.
When I saw "Charlie" on 2 September, his first brood of the season was nearly done. I didn't see him again until 13 September and he had a new brood.
I only saw "Ricardo" once in September on the 9th, the only time I went to The Monument. His brood look well developed and so I suspect this is the same brood I saw him with in August making it his first brood of the season.
I only saw "Denis" on 2 September and he did not yet have a brood. I was hoping to dive The Leap again on 16 September but it was too rough and on 30 September but I was not well. I'm hoping I'll get to dive The Leap soon and he may have a brood by then.
It has been a while since I mentioned "Jay". "Jay" was the subadult that Jason found on 25 April.
I have been continuing to see "Jay" on most dives. They can be a bit elusive and I can search the area they are in for some time and not find them. At other times I have found them immediately.
It is great to watch them grow.
I hope that the seas stay calm in October and I get to see all of the seadragons again.
